Rob received a Bachelor's degree in
Movement and Sports Science from Purdue University in 1989 and his
physical therapy degree in 1991 from The University of Illinois @
Chicago. He worked in hospital and private owned outpatient clinics for
9 years and then opened NorthWest Physical Therapy & Spine
Rehabilitation. He relocated to Spokane in 2003. Rob is certified in
Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of the spine through the McKenzie
Institute. He also has extensive training in a variety of manual
therapy, assessment, and exercise techniques through several
organizations and practitioners including the North American Institute
of Orthopedic Manual Therapy and The International Academy of Orthopedic
Manual Therapy. He is also a SPARQ certified trainer and a certified
youth training specialist through the International Youth Conditioning
In his spare time Rob enjoys coaching
youth football, reading, movies, and cooking.
Rob was born and raised in a small town
in northwest Ohio. He was recruited to play football at Purdue but
missed most of his senior season in high school recovering from knee
surgery after being hit on his bike by a drunk motorcyclist. He walked
on at Purdue as a linebacker but needed a second knee surgery (ACL
reconstruction) after the spring season. It was during this time that
Rob became interested in Physical Therapy. Donald Shelbourne, MD, the
team surgeon for Purdue and the Indianapolis Colts encouraged Rob on
every follow up visit to "look into physical therapy" as a profession.
Now he couldn't think of doing anything else.
